about

Based on the ancient musical form, this new EP from Antarctic Wastelands is a contemporary ambient exploration of the Requiem 'mass for the dead'. Written in the first half of 2020, with the world coming to terms with pandemics, wildfires, deforestation and numerous social injustices, the EP is inspired by the overwhelming feeling of loss that is often present in our society.

Yet there is hope. Following on from the nautical themes of his previous two EPs, Requiem is instead a more introspective journey - from darkness to encouragement, from solitude to beauty, and from the unknown into serenity.

Antarctic Wastelands' music has been described as "instantly captivating" (Rural Sounds), "immersive" (Stationary Travels), and "inter-dimensional in nature" (Tone Harvest). Featuring collaborations from eminent ambient producers The Field Tapes and Norvik, Requiem is Antarctic Wastelands' deepest and most musically diverse work to date.
